5 Must See Military Museums In PA

Although Veterans Day would be ideal for a visit to one of Pennsylvania's military museums, there is never a bad time to learn about the history of our military and the wars we fought, both abroad and at home. Some focus on America's military history as a whole, while others put the spotlight on a particular war. 

U.S. Army Heritage & Education Center
950 Soldiers Drive, Carlisle, PA 17013-5021
Hours of Operation:
Monday  - Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm, Sunday,  12 noon to 5 pm

Army Heritage Trail:
Buildings on the Trail are open Monday through Saturday 10am to 4:00pm and Sunday 12:30pm to 4:30pm.Visitors are welcome to walk the trail from dawn to dusk.

All USAHEC exhibits and research facilities are free and open to the public.

Eldred World War II Museum
201 Main Street, Eldred, PA 16731
Hours of Operation:
Tuesday – Saturday: 10am to 4 pm
Sunday: 1 pm to 4 pm
Group Tours Available by Reservation.

National Civil War Museum
One Lincoln Circle at Reservoir Park, Harrisburg, PA 17103

Hours of Operation:
Mon-Tues & Thur-Sat: 10am-5pm; Wed: 10am-8pm; Sun: 12pm-5pm
Holidays: Regular business hours (Thanksgiving Eve: we will close at 5pm); (Christmas Eve: we will close at 2pm); (New Year's Eve: we will close at 5pm)
Closed: New Year's Day, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Mon-Tues & Thur-Sat: 9am-5pm; Wed: 9am-8pm; Sun: 10am-5pm
Adult Adm: $12
The museum will offer Free Admission for all veterans, active-duty military service members and retirees on November 11, 2016.

Pennsylvania Military Museum

Hours of Operation:

Mid March 12 through late November, Wednesday - Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sunday, 12 p.m to 5 p.m.  Closed Monday & Tuesday.
Open on Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day and Veterans Day. Closed for Thanksgiving. Guided group tours of ten or more available on weekdays in the off-season by appointment

Adult Adm: (12 to 64): $6.00  

Active Duty Military and Dependents: Free with valid ID

Monday – Saturday, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Open Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day  10am – 7pm

Adult Adm: $10
Free admission is offered to military members serving on active duty, and in the Guard and Reserve; to those veterans who have served and retired military.
