Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center

LPPAC Winter 2015

Pulling Back The Curtain On The

LINCOLN PARK PERFORMING ARTS CENTER

Since opening its doors in 2006, the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center (LPPAC) has been delivering affordable high-quality arts and education programs for all ages. This season, the center will continue its great tradition of festive shows to celebrate the holidays. These performances are sure to get audience members in the spirit of the season.

“A Christmas Story”

After a two-year hiatus from the center’s main stage, Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center’s Professional Company will present “A Christmas Story.” On Friday through Sunday, Dec. 5 to 7, the popular tale will come to the stage with all the heartwarming moments and Christmas memories evoked by the 1983 movie. This humorous play follows Ralphie’s struggle to make sure he gets his one Christmas wish-a Red Ryder BB Gun. Back by popular demand, the show will also feature cast favorites like Tom Bickert as The Old Man, John Burja as Older Ralphie, and Lenora Nemetz as Miss Shields. Friday and Saturday evening performances will be at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday matinees will be at 2 p.m.

“The Nutcracker”

The classic tale of a young girl’s Christmas fantasy will come to life once again on Friday through Sunday, Dec. 19 to 21, as LPPAC’s Dance Company presents “The Nutcracker.” The beautiful costumes and eloquent music of Tchaikovsky will overwhelm the senses and immerse audience members in the timeless Christmas Eve story. This performance features more than 50 students ages 10 to 19 from across the tri-state region. Friday and Saturday shows will be at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday matinees will be at 2 p.m.

Subscription Series

Both “A Christmas Story” and “The Nutcracker” are part of the center’s subscription series. “This year’s subscription series offers a wide range of entertainment for our audiences, and the center is pleased to present it,” artistic director Gavan Pamer said. Six-show and three-show packages are still available at a discount. Upcoming shows in the subscription series include “The Who’s Tommy,” which will be presented in concert; “The Fab Four: Twist & Shout”; “You Can’t Take It With You”; and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “A Grand Night for Singing.”
