WWII Weekend

Let the sights and sounds transport you back to the 1940’s and experience living history. Stroll around the encampments and witness what life was like in the field. More than 1,300 WWII military and civilian re-enactors representing many nations will be pleased to share their knowledge and passion.
Experience battles and skirmishes between the French Resistance; Allied and German troops at the ruined French Village; American infantry and armor attack the Wehrmacht across open ground. Hear the thunder of tanks and artillery pieces being fired. Witness Marines in combat with Imperial Japanese defenders. Watch a recreation of the iconic flag-raising on Mt. Suribachi.
Shop the extensive militaria flea market—more than 120 vendors make this one of the nation’s largest. Get your period gear to look the part next year. Take a rest and grab a bite. Choose from our many food vendors to quench your thirst and hunger.
Meet some of the brave men and women who lived through the war. Hear their first-person accounts, presented daily. The Special Guest speakers’ schedules will be posted at each speaking venue. You can meet, speak with, and collect autographs from our many WWII veteran Special Guests (In some cases an autograph fee may be charged by the Special Guest).
Enjoy the fabulous ‘40’s Big Band dances Friday and Saturday evening. Don’t be surprised if the swinging sounds make you feel like cutting a rug!
See dozens of beautifully restored WWII aircraft—observation planes, trainers, utility planes, transports, fighters, & bombers. Many of these wonderful pieces of aviation history fly during the Saturday and Sunday air shows. Take a bucket-list ride on one of the legendary WWII airplanes. For more ride details and make reservations for a ride, please go to our website (https://maam.org/wwii) for more details.
Stroll down Main Street in the 1940’s Home Front area and see how everyday citizens did their part for the war effort. Observe a Red Cross display, a Coast Guard tent, a railroad booth, and many other displays.
There is much, much more. Explore the WWII Weekend website (http://www.maam.org/wwii.html) and then order your advance tickets for an unforgettable experience. Gates open at 8:30AM (The Public will not be admitted before 8:30AM) each day for the nation’s largest and best known historic commemoration of the life and times of America’s “Greatest Generation”. RAIN OR SHINE! Friday and Saturday shows end at 10:00PM, after the Hangar Dances. The Sunday show ends promptly at 5:00PM.
