History enthusiasts and curious minds alike can uncover the secrets of John Potts’s iron empire during a special interactive program. Pottsgrove Manor’s Transcribeathon offers a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating world of 18th-century industry through original documents and hands-on transcription work.
Participants will join museum staff and volunteers to examine primary sources from Potts-owned forges and furnaces, learning how these records shaped Pennsylvania’s colonial economy. Guests will discover the challenges of reading historic handwriting and try their hand at transcribing letters, contracts, and account books that reveal the daily operations of the iron trade. Whether you’re a seasoned historian or simply curious about the past, this program offers an engaging experience for all! *Suggested donation of $2 per guest.
