The University Museum at IUP is once again partnering with The Artists Hand Gallery to present the art exhibit The Museum Goes Downtown: IUP Professors Past. The show opens Friday, May 2, with a free public reception from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., featuring complimentary snacks and drinks.
This special exhibition kicks off the IUP@150 celebration with a look back at the university’s artistic roots. On display are works from the University Museum’s Permanent Collection, all created by former IUP art professors—some going back to the very beginning of the Art Department.
Spanning eras of creative thought and teaching, the exhibit reflects the lasting influence of these educators and the important role they played in shaping IUP’s art community. From bold experiments in form to powerful studies in technique, the artwork on view tells a story of passion, innovation, and mentorship that continues to inspire students and artists alike.
Join us at The Artists Hand Gallery to celebrate the legacy of IUP’s art faculty and enjoy an evening of art, conversation, and community. The exhibit will be open during regular gallery hours through May 17.
