South Schuylkill Garden Club Annual Plant Sale

Event Dates

May 10 2025

Location

Bubeck Park

Washington Street

Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972

South Schuylkill Garden Club will hold their Annual Plant Sale on Saturday, May 10, from 8 AM to 1 PM, at Bubeck Park/Stoyer’s Dam.

Start your day early by stopping by for the best selection of plants. Take advantage of great prices, from as low as $3.00, for plants to start your garden or add to an existing landscape.  The Club is striving to meet the local demand for new varieties of perennials and annuals, which will be available for purchase.

There will be a selection of hundreds of plants available, including, but not limited to, perennials for sun and shade, native plants, small trees and shrubs, vegetable plants from your garden to your dinner plate, daylilies, dahlia bulbs, houseplants, herbs, hanging planters, annuals, succulents, ground cover, canna bulbs, and more.

The South Schuylkill Garden Club is known for their large selection of native plants. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, native plants are already adapted to the climate and soil conditions in the area and provide important nectar, pollen and seeds to native fauna.

Since these hardy plants are locally grown (which is the trend in gardening), they are acclimated for the area, and do not require fertilizers, need fewer pesticides, are less thirsty, can prevent erosion, may not require mowing and promote biodiversity. Plant local means planting natives that grow in this area on their own. So, enhance your landscape by bringing back a more natural habitat with native plants. They may take a year or so to become established and to grow in their new habitat. When planting, remember to leave room for the plant to grow and propagate.

When selecting plants at the plant sale, think about where the plant will be placed in your garden. Then ask yourself how many hours of sun and shade does that spot get? Does water pool in this spot? Is the spot dry? What is the soil like?

South Schuylkill Garden Club expert gardeners and Penn State Master Gardeners will be available to advise and answer your gardening questions.

The Plant Sale is a rain or shine event.
