Pottsgrove Manor invites the public to start America’s 250th birthday year strong with a special lecture. On Saturday, January 24th, at 1pm, join author and researcher Dan Graham for his presentation on Pennsylvania Ironmasters during the Revolutionary War. By the 1760s, John Potts had laid the foundation for a strong and lucrative family iron empire. After his death in 1768, many of his sons continued the Potts iron legacy. Their business ventures endured through the darkest moments of the colonies’ fight for independence. This lecture will explore how Pennsylvania’s iron industry played a critical role in supplying the Continental Army and sustaining the war effort.
The revolutionary struggle extended beyond the battlefield. Dan Graham’s research sheds light on the economic and industrial backbone of the war for independence that took place in the hills and valleys of southeastern Pennsylvania. Revolution happened here.
*Suggested $2 donation per guest. In case of inclement weather, the lecture will be moved to Saturday, January 31st.
