For Want Of Ammunition: The PA State Regiment At Germantown

Saturday, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. This October, the Peter Wentz Farmstead will host the recreated PA State Regiment. Not a typical reenactment group, the PSR is an assemblage of living historians who have put this impression together for this weekend only, in honor of the troops that served here. Join us to experience life in a military camp during the Philadelphia Campaign. Watch the regiment conduct marching and musket firing demonstrations, visit the military camp kitchen, and learn about the vital role that women camp followers played during the American Revolution. Tour the historic house to learn about General Washington’s stay here and view a recreation of his temporary office. Programs conclude at 3:30 pm with a recreation of a unique event: the “feu de joie,” a musket firing celebration that took place while the troops encamped in this area. All ages: free.
