Beaver Valley Guest Artist: Jared Cullum

Thurs. 7 pm – 9 pm. This demonstration is free and open to the public. Jared Cullum is an award-winning Author-cartoonist and painter of things living in Pittsburgh, PA. His debut young adult book, Kodi, was nominated for multiple awards and won the Rueben Award in 2021. He has written and painted children and young adult stories for Jim Henson Productions, IDW, Insight Editions and others. Jared is also an avid outdoor painter and teacher of plein air and figure painting. Jared said that he is doing a demonstration of still life in Gouache. Gouache is an opaque water color medium. “I’m happy to do stuff around the house-type of demo. I’m just happy to paint- so it doesn’t bother me if you are interested in something in particular. I am drawn to kitchen stuff because there is such a variety of surface materials for light to effect, which is probably a large part of what we’ll be talking about at the demo.”
