Adobe Illustrator: The Basics of Digital Design Class at The Rivet at Discovery Space

This class will be taught over two sessions on Sunday, September 20 and Sunday, September 27 from 3pm-5pm. Get acquainted with vector design using industry-leading software. This class is meant to act as a crash course in digital design. In the first session, students will create and modify objects, and control tools and toolbars. Exercises will familiarize students with artboards, workspaces, strokes, fills, colors, gradients, text, layers, groups, and more.

The second session of this class will cover tips, tricks, and some more advanced techniques including image tracing, compound paths, clipping masks, pathfinder tools, shape builder tool, and more. This class will prepare you to create files appropriate for CNC machines including The Rivet’s vinyl cutter, CNC embroidery machine, and laser cutter. Bring your own ideas and receive the guidance that you need for digital design. No previous experience or materials are required. Please let us know if you plan to bring your own computer with Illustrator pre-installed.
