Local electronic musicians Rapid Uncontrolled Disassembly will partner with the IUP Student Film Association to present a series of music videos, “That’s How I Escaped my Fate.” Over the course of six songs and six videos, the audience will follow characters who stretch into liminal dimensions and experience absurd activity. These realms may appear familiar, yet otherworldly. The songs will be performed live, and the music videos will be projected on the large movie screen behind the musicians. The IUP Student Film Association is a student led group that creates cinematic opportunities for students pursuing a career in filmmaking. Students wrote, produced, and shot the film directed by SFA President Cole Kilhoffer “Graveyard Bouquet for William,” which they had the opportunity to show to the public at the Indiana Theater in spring of 2023. The group’s advisor, Jeremy Waltman, encourages the group to “test the audience’s intelligence, but not their patience.” IUP SFA Vice President Abigail Strittmatter says about the project, “This project challenged us to get creative with our technical skills; our hope is to share an unsettling experience with those who might not have viewed content that’s potentially as abstract as this.” Proceeds help The Indiana Theater and the SFA’s future filmmakers. Tickets are $5 and are available at the door, by phone or online.
