Cornflower Jam In Concert At Gwynedd Friends Coffeehouse
Cornflower Jam began at the jams and festivals around Philly where we started playing and singing old-time music together. During the pandemic, Laura Fitzsimmons and Christy Lou started to sing and play on a porch in Roxborough. Soon after, Laura Alexander joined us with her gorgeous cello chops and Ray Fifer brought completion to the group with beautiful melodies, crunchy harmonies, and a bass line that holds us all together. Our sound is influenced by folk legends such as the Carter Family, Pete Seeger, Malvina Reynolds, Rosalie Sorrels, Ollabelle Reed, and Hazel Dickens. We are also influenced by modern Americana artists such as Bruce Molsky, Elizabeth LaPrelle, Anna Roberts-Gevalt, Alice Gerrard, Sierra Ferrell, Richie Stearns, Rosie Newton, Rachel Eddy, and many others. In addition to traditional music and covers, we play music we have written and recorded. Cornflower Jam is part of the Bellasylva Folk Collective album project recorded at Morningstar Studios and produced by Cliff Cole and Christy Lou. The album was released in April 2022.
