7 Great Shutterbug Spots In Northern PA
Wendy Royal Fall 2016
Let’s face it: there are fewer and fewer places in the world where a selfie hasn’t been taken. So it stands to reason that people will go to great and sometimes dangerous lengths to get the “perfect” selfie. We’ve got a few safe places in mind; some are absolutely gorgeous vistas, and others are fun and quirky locations that are sure to get you more than a few “likes” on your post!
Chimney Rocks
Location: White Mountain Wild Area of Bald Eagle State Park near Weikert, Union County, PA
Reaching this spectacular selfie spot requires hiking on some rugged terrain, so you’ll need more than just your cell to get this shot.
Kinzua Sky Walk
Location: 296 Viaduct Road, Mount Jewett, PA 16740
The glass bottom in the center of the skywalk in Kinzua Bridge State Park will make your heart skip a beat, but the view is worth it. A new visitor’s center will enhance your visit, with the history of the viaduct that once traversed the Kinzua Gorge.
West Rim View of the Pine Creek Gorge
Location: Colton State Park
4797 Route 660, Wellsboro, PA 16901
It’s no wonder that Pine Creek Gorge is referred to as Pennsylvania’s Grand Canyon, at almost 50 miles long and over 1,000 feet deep. The views of the creek from the West Rim Trail are spectacular!
Ganoga Falls
Location: Ricketts Glen State Park
695 State Road 487, Benton, PA 17731
Ganoga Falls is the tallest of the 22 named waterfalls in Ricketts Glen State Park. What a beautiful backdrop for any photo!
Penn State Proud!
Location: Penn State University
Beaver Stadium, University Park, PA 16802
Remember those family photos where the photographer asks you to squeeze in closer so everyone will be in the shot? Now imagine taking a photo with 100,000 other people. If you attend a home game at Beaver Stadium this fall, you will have that opportunity.
Little League World Series
Location: Howard J. Lamade Stadium
Terrace Hill Seating
Borderline Road, South Williamsport, PA 17702
People Magazine recently named the Little League® World Series among the “100 Reasons to Love America,” and we couldn’t agree more. Taking a selfie from the outfield hill during the Little League World Series screams iconic Americana.
Getting Goofy With A Groundhog
Location: Throughout Punxsutawney, PA
What does a downtown do when its claim to fame is a prognosticating groundhog named Phil? Fill the city with 6-foot tall groundhogs, of course. Yes, in case you forget that Punxsutawney is the home of a very famous groundhog, they’ve erected 30 (very cute) statues of him dressed in every manner of attire, from his “wizard of weather” look to Lady Liberty. Why settle for a shot with one groundhog when you can be photographed with 30?
