History Camp at the PA Lumber Museum

The “hands-on” history camp for kids 10 and older offers an opportunity for youngsters to learn about the history of Pennsylvania’s forests and immerse themselves into the lifestyle of the 19th-century “woodhicks” – the loggers and lumberjacks who worked in the trade.

On day one, campers will try activities like using a crosscut saw, rolling a log, peeling bark, and cooking over a fire. They’ll play games like horseshoes, seed spitting, and model log raft racing. On the second day, participants will demonstrate their new-found skills at the Galeton Rotary’s Cherry Springs State Park Woodsmen Show.

This camp offers an educational and fun way for students and youngsters to have fun and learn an appreciation for the work that built the state’s rich lumber heritage.
