Join Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens crafting program Peco Family Jams: One Book One Philadelphia, which draws inspiration from the Free Library’s “One Book, One Philadelphia” selection: ‘The Artivist’ by the acclaimed Nikkolas Smith.
The vibrant picture book narrates the story of a young artist who employs their talents to positively impact the world through impactful murals, protest signs, and engaging street art interventions. Participants can anticipate a unique crafting experience, immersing themselves in the inspiring narrative of ‘The Artivist’ by creating personalized wearable art made from a pin-back button.
PECO Family Jams includes tours of PMG’s fully mosaicked basement at 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. Attendees will learn how Isaiah Zagar, creator of Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens, uses artwork to talk about the world. Basement tours will include readings of ‘The Artivist’ at 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
