CommUNITY Walking Tour & Meal

Event Dates

Location

Bethesda Project's Our Brothers' Place (ending at the Rail Park)

907 Hamilton St

Philadelphia, PA 19123

CommUNITY Walking Tour & Meal

Empathy plus action positively impacts our neighborhoods. In the Callowhill neighborhood, organizations like Bethesda Project and Philabundance work to support the needs of neighbors facing housing and food insecurity while the Friends of the Rail Park work to engage diverse residents, bridge communities, and promote inclusivity through its park. Join these organizations for Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week through a community walking tour, starting at Bethesda Project’s Our Brothers’ Place and ending with a boxed meal at the Rail Park, that shares the history of the Callowhill neighborhood and the work happening to support those experiencing hunger and homelessness. Those participating on the tour will have the opportunity to reflect on these issues together, which we hope to capture and include in the Rail Park’s time capsule project.  This event will take place on Saturday at 11am departing from 907 Hamilton Street. The ticket price is a suggested donation of $25 per person and includes a boxed lunch sponsored by Philabundance’s Community Kitchen. Proceeds from this event will support Bethesda Project and Philabundance, two local non-profit organizations.  Know Before You Go:  The program will include approximately 1 mile of walking. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes. The Rail Park is ADA and wheelchair accessible. The Rail Park is completely outdoors with tree cover only. There are no restrooms on site at the park. You can enter the Rail Park by ramp East of Broad on Noble Street, or by stairs on Callowhill Street between 11th and 12th Streets. We encourage you to wear a mask while participating in this program, for our safety and yours. Masks and hand sanitizer will be provided on site during the event.
