Sugar Skull Charms Class at The Rivet at Discovery Space
Dia de Muertos Calavera Class: The calavera sugar skull is the most widely recognized symbol of Mexico’s Day of the Dead celebration. In this class you will use sheet metal, a jeweler’s saw and metal stamps to fabricate the basic charm. You will then learn to solder multiple accents, using either a butane or Silver Smith torch; shape metal accents with a dapping block and punch; and attach jump rings to complete a finished pendant. The instructor will also demonstrate how to melt scrap silver wire into a ball, which will be used as a decorative accent, time allowing. Face masks are required, and this class is socially distanced.
